Tanzania Health Opportunities (THO) is a registered Tanzanian non-governmental organisation established in November 2020.
Our mission is to improve access to quality healthcare and health education for underserved communities. We work through community medical outreach, maternal health services, prevention and early detection, health education, clinical partnerships, health-system strengthening and volunteer engagement.

Our programs
Hospital Program
Are you a healthcare volunteer or medical student aspiring to gain experience in low-resource healthcare? THO welcomes healthcare professionals, interns, and students from around the world to join our mission in Tanzania.
Our elective hospital placements offer medical students, nurses, midwives, physical therapists, dentists and other healthcare volunteers a unique opportunity to develop their clinical skills. During your placement, you will encounter both common and rare medical conditions, observe practices that broaden your clinical perspective, and gain a better understanding of how social and cultural factors influence healthcare disparities in developing countries.
Education Program
Our Education Volunteer Program in Tanzania provides an opportunity for passionate volunteer teachers to make a difference in the lives of children aged three to fourteen. Operating from Monday to Friday, our school caters to over 100 children, including orphans, disabled children, and underprivileged youth.
Volunteers play a vital role in shaping childrens’ educational journey, imparting essential skills in:

- Computer Science
- Various extracurricular activities
